Supporting Macmillan

Our Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) Team organise fundraising events throughout the year for our Corporate Charity Partner, Macmillan. It’s a great cause and we’re really pleased to support them by helping to raise much needed funds for Macmillan.

Each month we hold a dress down day to raise money and keep the momentum going in addition to our bigger efforts such as company raffles, bake-off competitions and quiz nights.

On Tuesday 9 April several members of the CSR team attended Macmillan’s local open evening in Gerrards Cross to hear all about the wonderful work taking place across the south of Buckinghamshire and how our donations keep things running. The speakers included Liz King, Group Leader for Buckinghamshire South Fundraising Group, Rob Moon, Head of Regional Fundraising, and Pauline Craig, Performance Quality Lead.

It was great to hear how donations within the area have helped to fund information pods at community libraries, an End of Life Care Pharmacist, Dieticians who help people during the recovery phase (improving outcomes and freeing up GP time), and an Acute Oncology Physiotherapist. In addition to this, our local area will soon be home to a pilot project securing places for 40 people to receive relationship counselling through Relate, either with a partner or family member.

Towards the end of the evening we were welcomed up to the stand to give a quick overview of our fundraising activities and to present the Macmillan team with our 2018 donation total of £3,268.58 This was an emotional moment for all involved as it meant that the Buckinghamshire South’s fundraising total over the last four years tipped over the £750,000 mark – helping Liz to reach her five year target, a whole year early! It’s no surprise that Buckinghamshire South Fundraising Group have recently won Regional Fundraising Group of the Year!

We’re honoured to be a part of something so special and look forward to lots more FUNdraising activities in 2019.
